With the majority of their day being spent at the office, many Americans find it difficult to fit a workout into their busy lifestyles. Not all of us are lucky enough to have a gym in our office so how do we go about staying active in the workplace? With a few simple tips, anyone can stay lean and healthy in the office.
1. Use your lunch.
Enjoy your break from the fast-paced office by taking a walk. If you work near some nice hiking spots (Looking at you Boulder), try to go for a nice walk or hike during your break. Having a picnic on the trail will keep you active as well as relieve stress from work.
2. Take a break.
Get up and walk around your office for a few minutes every hour. Grab a coffee or say hi to a coworker.
3. Invest in a desk.
Invest in a height adjustable desk option for your office. Try to stand for at least 15 minutes every hour. When standing, try some squats or calf raises to get your blood flowing.
4. Hold a meeting.
Have your meetings at standing height tables. This will keep your meetings short and to the point while keeping you active. If you have a conference call, take a walk during that and get some steps in.
5. Bike to work.
If possible, try to bike, or walk, to work. Not only will you get a great workout in on your commute, you'll reduce your carbon footprint at the same time!
